The second week of the Eastern Valley Table Tennis League season saw Cwmbran Blues maintain their 100% start in Division One with a 20-14 win over Cwmbran Colts. This was despite the absence of their captain Mark Farrow. His replacement Matthew O'Dwyer was making a welcome return to the League after a number of years away and acquitted himself very well. Player of the match was David Lloyd who won all his matches without dropping a set. The Colts will certainly be strengthened by the return of Lee Thomas in the coming weeks. The other match in Division One was a very close and exciting affair between Cwmbran Aztecs and YMCA and they could not be separated with the match finishing in a 18-18 draw. The Aztecs were indebted to player of the match Tony Collins who won all his matches.

In Division Two last years winners Cwmbran Dynamos were playing their first match of the season and they continued where they left off last season by beating Cwmbran Fellows in a close match 17-14. The Dynamos won despite being without the top player from last season Alson Limbu, but the Fellows could not take advantage despite a player of the match performance from Wayne Ford. The other match in the division between Blaenavon Aces and Cwmbran Panthers saw another close affair which ended with a 17-15 win to the Panthers who go top of the table. With the Pearce twins attending a TTAW training camp the Aces brought in the husband and wife combination of Jon and Emma Allen who together with son Ben completed a family line up. Emma was returning to the sport after many years and seemed to enjoy the experience. Player of the match Jon Allen proved too strong for the Panthers and will certainly be a very good reserve for the team!!!
